What we're all about...

With over 40 years of experience, students age 11 through 18 learn sailing, racing and seamanship while living coed with their own age group aboard 50-foot yachts and cruising the British Virgin and Leeward Islands. No prior experience is required. Our focus is on experiential learning, leadership training and personal growth. Scuba certifications, snorkeling, tubing, wakeboarding, kayaking, and island exploration are just a few of the activities that we do day-to-day. Marine biology and community service are built into every program as well. Students earn up to 30 service hours with projects including mentoring local youth and environmental conservation.

Camp Q&A

How do we screen staff?

Ratio of campers to staff?

On every boat, there are 2-3 staff members. There is one Captain and two Mates. Also on our fleets, a staff boat travels with them where the Program Director, Fleet Captain, Provisions Manager, and Social Media/Photographer live.

What are our safety & security policies?

Safety is the most important thing to us. Our staff go through an extensive two-week training period where they get training from a local emergency response team, our veteran staff take them through our long-lasting procedures, and they become more acquainted with the islands.

How do we handle disciplinary issues?

We have a non-negotiable policy where we will send students home if they are caught breaking our rules. Drugs, alcohol, bullying, and theft are just a few reasons students have gone home in the past. With that being said, our staff meet every night to discuss any issues that may be going on so staff are aware of problems from the get-go in order to have the most positive outcome.

What medical resources are available?

We have a medical officer and an EMT on each fleet. Medical issues are discussed each night between the staff and students will be sent to the doctor right away if they need to. An emergency response team (VISAR) is readily available for any emergency.

What's our typical daily schedule?

To see authentic day-to-day schedules, visit our Blog on our website. Students and staff write Trip Updates each day.

How do we help campers with homesickness?

What percentage of campers return to camp?

What kind of food is served?

We have a Provisions Manager on each fleet that is responsible for ordering provisions every 3 days when the fleets go to a dock. They are also responsible for making weekly menus for each boat. Students who are vegan, vegetarian, kosher, or have intolerances or allergies are always taken into account.

Can parents visit camp?

How do campers communicate with parents?

Students are not allowed phones on the program. However, there are Trip Updates posted daily on our blog, photos are uploaded daily on an app, and the students will get their phone halfway through the program to check in with their families.

Are references available?

What's our policy regarding phones and digital devices?

Is tuition assistance available?

We have a Financial Aid Application where we can grant up to 50% off of tuition.
